HP’s Ethical Reputation Hurt by CEO’s Departure

Hewlett-Packard received negative press coverage today and over the week-end as its CEO Mark Hurd resigned after an internal investigation stated falsified expense reports. The company said Mr Hurd violated HP’s Standards of Business Conduct, but not its sexual harassment policy.

The Wall Street Journal, Wired Magazine, easybourse.com, The Australian Business, laprensaenlinea, Washington Examiner, and New York Magazine reported on this story, among other sources.

Prior to this event HP appeared in the first quintile of Covalence EthicalQuote Ranking, while most of the company’s ethical weaknesses were found in the Working Conditions group of criteria. We expect that Mr Hurd’s severance package will make the news over the coming weeks.
